Most tribal chieftains or evil wizards have at least one muscle-bound heavy-hitter to guard them when the spells are useless or overkill, or simply to stand imposingly behind them while they negotiate with rich merchants or nobles. Frequently those bodyguards are orcs or half-orcs who enjoy their authority derived from the power of their evil master and get their kicks from indulging in their sadistic tendencies using peasants or lower underlings for such purposes.
