These vaguely humanoid whirlwinds made of sand and foulness are undead remains of powerful human servitors to evil genies or eldritch desert gods. They drain life of everything they touch, corrupting fertile soil and spreading the lifeless dessert.
They are mighty spellcasters, gifted by both arcane and divine spells and frequently they are thousands of years old, remembering when the desert was thriving kingdom, until it was brought down by their malevolence.
