Sometimes called eye tyrants, beholders are creatures of the Far Realm, the Plane of Madness, usually found in the Underdark, but frequently in the Astral Plane and the Plane of Dreams as well. Powerful and extremely intelligent, these aberrations are among the greatest threats to all existence. Probably the only thing stopping them from absolute domination of all worlds is their individuality and selfishness. Each beholder considers itself to be a pinnacle of beholder-kind and every other beholder to be a gross mutation and living deformity.
