The trail led upwards. Ever upwards. She was breathing heavily. It had been three days of climbing and still no sign of her quarry except the tracks. Tracks heading ever upwards.
Why anyone was foolish enough to head over the mountain range instead of through the pass was curious. Desperation, she supposed. Not thinking clearly. How her bounty had gotten wind of her pursuit was also peculiar.
She stopped to catch her breath, turning in a slow circle to take in the mountain view.
Well, having Calin Dread at your heels could drive someone to desperation, she supposed again.
